Waiting as I, having forgotten to take my phone to the garden that morning, walked back to the house to fetch it. Waiting. Until I returned. Waiting, while I cautiously circled inward, wondering how close he would let me get. And only when I had camera-roll’s worth of shots did he stir and fly off. As though to say he had only stopped by for the world to admire him.
