Down Time

I did that thing…that thing that others do for the first time in maybe twenty years. Or ever, really. It is said that if you love what you do, you won’t work a day in your life. Well, I love what I do and don’t seem to need vacations. Adventures, yes, but vacations, no, and THAT was an adventure. For days, I witnessed the far off hurricane through its waves crashing onto the rocky coast of Maine. Brilliant!

Admittedly, the time away, not far and not for long, served to nicely bookend one entire chapter in my life and open an entirely new book for the next. And to that end, I’m closing out my “Greater Than the Sum of Our Parts” series…for now. This is “Sucker Punched,” the second in the series, made from chips and curls of maple, walnut, sapele, cherry, and mahogany with aromatic cedar for the wound in her side and blood spray. I’ll follow with a photo of “Cornered” when I write another post, but with my previous essays about “Chipped Away,” that completes my protest pieces in this medium. For now.

So, I’m putting the finishing touches on “A Wolf in the Shipwreck,” the 10th book in The Admiral Inn Mysteries Series and penning the 11th installment, hopefully out for Christmas. With fall writing and a steady garden harvest, I don’t know which new project will clutter up my momentarily clean art station. I’m thinking holiday gifts…
