What a wonderful process this 10th book has been and exactly three minutes ago, I typed “The End.” Well, metaphorically speaking. I don’t actually finish with “The End.” Nothing against those who do, it’s just that after 10 books in The Admiral Inn series, there’s a convention to follow. I didn’t type “The End” at the end of A Devil in the Donations, therefore, I can’t now. Or I could, since I actually write the books (hence the months and months is takes for me to turn out the next installment in the 12-book series). My hands type every last aching word – not a drop of AI cheating, lying, deceiving, and thieving. And I make all the rules as well, so I could end with “The End,” but I like consistency.
That’s 66,000 words, typed, erased, typed again, moved around, spelled correctly (damned homophones!), rearranged again, and finally blessed. Now, on to rewrite, editing, editing, editing, beta readers, book cover, and finally, publishing. Thanks to all you great people for buying my books, saying sweet things, encouraging my writing, and waiting for each new mystery and adventure at The Admiral Inn. June Faust will be back soon to explain that shipwreck in her cove, the furry witness who wandered into town, and the most effective way to deal with the town gossip. ‘Til then, MWAH!
(P.S. Picture is of an ancient beech tree in my yard. I haven’t wandered far from my desk but still found an entire fairyland just by looking up!)
